Kapil Sharma on dealing with depression

Kapil Sharma, who is set to return to the big screen with Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 the sequel to his debut movie, recently opened up about his battle with depression during the promotions of Zwigato on Aaj Tak’s Seedhi Baat. Reflecting on his struggles, Kapil shared, “As a public figure, crores of people know you, you entertain them, but when you come home, you are alone.”

He further explained the isolation that comes with fame, saying, “You are not in a situation to live a normal life where you can go out, sit on the beach, and look at the sea. You live in a two-room flat, and when it’s dark outside by evening, I cannot explain how bad the feeling is in that situation.”

Kapil also revealed the depth of his despair, admitting, “In that phase, I thought about committing suicide. I felt there was nobody with whom I could share what I was going through. Where I come from, mental health is not something that is discussed. I don’t think this was the first time I went through this phase—maybe during childhood, I must have felt low, but nobody would have noticed.”
