“In India, Jatt and Juliet 3 has earned Rs. 37 crore, making it the third highest-grossing Punjabi films, following Carry on Jatta 3 and Carry on Jatta 2. Overseas, within two weeks of its release, Jatt and Juliet 3 has become the highest-grossing Punjabi film, surpassing Carry on Jatta 3. The film, starring Diljit Dosanjh, has grossed USD 5.90 million (Rs. 49 crore) to date, edging out Carry on Jatta 3’s USD 5.70 million. It is expected to exceed USD 7 million by the end of its theatrical run.
The film’s domestic performance lags behind Carry on Jatta 3 but is poised to surpass Carry on Jatta 2. Thanks to its exceptional performance overseas, it currently holds the second position globally and is likely to claim the top spot soon.
The overseas market for Punjabi films has experienced significant growth, particularly in Canada, Australia, and the UK, driven by increased migration in recent years. Collaborations with Pakistani Punjabi artists have also expanded the market to include the Pakistani Punjabi diaspora. Five years ago, the top-grossing Punjabi film overseas was Carry on Jatta 2, earning USD 2.65 million, a figure that has since more than doubled, approaching the triple mark.”
“The highest-grossing Punjabi films overseas are as follows:
Rank | Title | Year | Gross |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Jatt and Juliet 3 | 2024 | USD 5.90M |
2 | Carry on Jatta 3 | 2023 | USD 5.70M |
3 | Mastaney | 2023 | USD 5.20M |
4 | Chal Mera Putt 2 | 2020 | USD 4.75M |
5 | Chaar Sahibzade | 2014 | USD 4.10M |
6 | Honsla Rakh | 2021 | USD 3.97M |
7 | Chal Mera Putt | 2019 | USD 3.29M |
8 | Chhalla Mud Ke Nhi Aya | 2022 | USD 2.85M |
9 | Carry on Jatta 2 | 2018 | USD 2.65M |
10 | Ardaas Karaan | 2019 | USD 2.63M |
Jatt and Juliet 3 has set new records for Punjabi films in Canada and the United States. In the United Kingdom, it falls short of Chaar Sahibzade, which was a unique film with a devotional theme that regular films can’t easily compete with. In Australia, it is slightly behind Mastaney and lags more significantly in New Zealand. In the Gulf region and Pakistan, it ranks below Carry on Jatta 3.
Despite its success, Jatt and Juliet 3 had the potential to achieve even higher numbers with better reception. An overseas gross of USD 8-9 million is achievable for Punjabi films with the right combination of film and audience reception. Jatt and Juliet 3 was such a film but didn’t receive the optimal reception needed to reach this milestone.”
